"The Mountains Are Calling And I Must Go."

"Out Of The Forest At Last There Stood The Mountain, Wholly Unveiled, Awful In Build And Majesty, Filling All The View Like A Separate, Newborn World, Yet Withal So Fine And Beautiful It Might Well Fire The Dullest Observer To Desperate Enthusiasm."

_John Muir

You've probably noticed that I have quite a few images of the Mount Adams, Gifford Pinchot area. Mount Adams is the most remote mountain in the Cascade Range. It is often overlooked in publications and calendars. That is one of the reasons I love the area so much. It's difficult to reach and has very little pressure from civilization. I feel that the hiking & camping experience hasn't changed much over the last fifty years, and it is one of the most beautiful places in Washington State.

Randy Hutchison > Mount Thielsen is an extinct stratovolcano in southern Oregon. It is 9,182 feet high. that has been so deeply eroded by glaciers that there is no summit crater and the upper part of the mountain is more or less a horn. The reason for this is twofold; Thielsen is a relatively old Cascade volcano and it stopped cone-building eruptions relatively early. It therefore was not able to repair damage caused during the last two or three ice ages.
