Your Bio

I've been passionate about photography ever since I picked up my first camera thirty years ago. My wife Ardys and I live in Port Orchard, Washington. Our town is situated in scenic Kitsap County between the snow-capped Cascades and the Olympic mountain range. We like to spend our spare time in the natural world, experiencing wilderness hiking and camping throughout the year with our dog, Brandy.

The Pacific Northwest is a richly diverse wilderness area. The mountains rise up 14,000 feet above the sea. There are magnificent rain drenched forests, treeless desert lands, glacial lakes, in a landscape as beautiful and prolific as an artist's painting.

Inside of my *Personal Favorites Gallery* are 20 of my favorites. It's always difficult to pick out my all-time favorite images. More often than not, I fail to convey the beauty of this area. Once or twice a year those serendipitous moments come together. However, it's the emotion I feel while exploring, that is just as important as the image itself.

My personal favorites are in no particular order. They could, and probably will change at any given day. "Behind each image is a story." Some are quite different from one another, and require a different mindset and approach. The portrait of my wife Ardys and my daughter Shannon were planned. Some were pure luck, (Field of Dreams) (Early Morning Bite) (November Sunrise.) Others were just being prepared at the right place and the right time.

(My Personal Blog) has nothing to do with photography, however It has enriched my life and allowed me to keep trudging up and down those mountain trails to see what lies ahead.

"Out Of The Forest At Last There Stood The Mountain, Wholly Unveiled, Awful In Build And Majesty, Filling All The View Like A Separate, Newborn World, Yet Withal So Fine And Beautiful It Might Well Fire The Dullest Observer To Desperate Enthusiasm."

You've probably noticed that I have quite a few images of the Mount Adams, Gifford Pinchot area. Mount Adams is the most remote mountain in the Cascade Range. It is often overlooked in publications and calendars. That is one of the reasons I love the area so much. It's difficult to reach and has very little pressure from civilization. I feel that the hiking & camping experience hasn't changed much over the last fifty years, and it is one of the most beautiful places in Washington State.
