I've enjoyed photography for more than twenty-five years. My wife Ardys and I live in Port Orchard, Washington. Our town is situated in scenic Kitsap County between the snow-capped Cascades and the Olympic mountain range. We love wilderness camping and hiking throughout the year with our dog, Brandy.

The Pacific Northwest is a richly diverse wilderness area, ranging from rugged snow covered mountains and valleys, to evergreen forests with glacier-fed rivers and streams.

You've probably noticed that I have quite a few images of the Mount Adams, Gifford Pinchot area. Mount Adams is the most remote mountain in the Cascade Range. It is often overlooked in publications and calendars. That is one of the reasons I love the area so much. It's difficult to reach and has very little pressure from civilization. I feel that the hiking & camping experience hasn't changed much over the last fifty years, and it is one of the most beautiful places in Washington State.

Mount Adams is a stratovolcano in the Cascade Range and the second-highest mountain in the state of Washington. It Is 12,276 Feet High.

A Tiny Rock Island, Amid A Small Creek In The Columbia River Gorge Area

A different look at a small creek. I scouted around for an interesting composition. I decided to straddled the creek with my camera mounted on a tripod, to surround the little island with swirling water.

Oneonta Gorge is a deep, narrow cleft in the basalt bluff through which flows a foaming creek. Fossilized trees caught by a lava flow, are entombed in its perpendicular walls.

The Strait of Juan de Fuca, approximately 102 miles in length and 10 to 18 miles wide

Somewhere In Eastern Oregon (My Colors Never Fade!)

We just happened along this old wagon in Eastern Oregon on our way to another camp spot. I was anxious to get to our destination and noticed this view and just drove on by. My wife is never one to let an opportunity go by. After a couple of miles she slyly looked over at me and said, are you going to keep driving and let this one slip away? As you can see, I always listen to my wife.

November Sunrise, Mount Adams (My Wife's Favorite Image)

This was one of those lucky moments in photography. We were camping at Takalak Lake near mount Adams. My wife excitedly woke me up very early saying she walked down to the lake and had never seen such beautiful colors. I hurriedly put on my pants and jogged & hopped down to the lake as I was still half asleep. I shot a few frames before the clouds turned to stone-gray in a matter of seconds.

A Silver Cross Fox...They are a red fox, but once in a great while there will be one in a Red Fox litter (Mount Rainier National Park)

After camping for two days my wife and I had packed up everything to head for home. We stopped to use the restroom and noticed this little fox. I retrieved my camera from the van, expecting the Fox to vanish before I returned. He was still playing around some foliage and very inquisitive. I shot quite a few frames before he became bored and left. A really nice way to end a camping trip.

Mount Hood (called Wy'east by the Multnomah tribe), is a stratovolcano in the Cascade Volcanic Arc in northern Oregon, in the Pacific Northwest. It is 11,249 feet high.

This required some patience from me. The fisherman was quite a ways down the lake. I waited, which seemed like forever. Finally he rowed into the correct position and I shot one frame.

The Dock At The Lodge On Lake Crescent (Olympic National Park)

New Beginnings

Cape Disappointment Lighthouse was constructed in 1856 to warn seamen of the treacherous river bar known by then as "the graveyard of the Pacific." This is the oldest functioning lighthouse on the West Coast

I wanted to take this particular photo for quite a few years. I had taken it with film many years ago but wanted it on digital. This is a 30 second exposure. I manually focused the lens as it was too dark for the camera to focus automatically.

Mount Rainier is an active stratovolcano (also known as a composite volcano) It is 14,411 feet high.

Field Of Dreams. Taken After A Terrific Rain Storm In Idaho.

My wife and I were vacationing in Idaho a couple of years ago. It was raining so hard I could barely see the road. As the rain started to subside, we came upon a small town with a cemetery near the edge of it. My wife noticed the rainbow and excitedly told me to pull over and grab my camera. We sprinted across the cemetery to the edge of this field. I think I shot three or four frames before the rainbow slowly disappeared. It's a day I will always remember.
